Darkfall 2: Unholy Wars - November 20, 2012.

I just read this adn was going to post it! Can't wait! I may not have time to play it as next season I am going for my Pro-License so that will consume a lot of time! But I also graduate in December so that is a shit fuck ton of time I gain. :)

Edit: I would also recommend reading the rest of the questions they answered in the spotlight forums. hopefully they start posting more screenshots / videos of the new game soon!

This quote:
Lastly there has been a change to the overall land mass as the world has been consolidated to bring points of interest closer together in order to benefit player versus player action. The world is still very big however as the majority of the areas that have been removed are water areas.
Should be interesting. Smaller world. Wonder how much smaller, everything has been redone including all clan cities, no more clan portals in cities either. You apparently can't walk over clan walls from mountains anymore and walls are trickier to hop over.

Hey, Agilaz. If we both come back to play, you are going to have to find the time to put into it to play, too =x.

Have they announced servers? Splitting the orginal server into EU and NA and dividing the already small player base was the worst thing they ever did IMO, completely ruined the persistance of the world/game.

I trust this announcement about as far as i could throw Tasos.

Its tough to be interested after how they squandered the original launch, and even more so after seeing this clueless band of unibrowed retards.

DF was a horrible game, incredibly horrible. The silver lining was that they were the only team that was creating a open world sandbox pvp game, which is what we have been begging for since AC. It was the only offering, and it worked, because i was willing to spend hours donkey kicking shades for the chance to pop an arrow in some noob's ass and take his hard earned loot.

Despite how shitty the actual game was, it was the marketing and management that sank it, and none of that has changed, which is evident in this video. We would all still be playing if there was a population.

There is no creativity or passion on this entire team, Tasos spent half of that video outlining their failures to conclude that they have started over, ta-da! He looked about as thrilled as if he was talking about an upcoming root canal.

There wasn't a single detail regarding an improvement, they just rant about how they would love for players to have exciting adventures together! Yes the UI sucked, but docking windows wont bring your player base back.

This looks like a lot more of the same bullshit that Tasos has been feeding us, it was 5 years of waiting for DF, then "The DF Expansion" then 2010 then 2.0 now unholy wars. None of it matters for shit unless you can keep subscribers and make some cash, and judging by their office they are failing bad at both.

I did, however, appreciate that instead of showing us some gameplay, renders, or even concept art, they chose to show me the back of some kids head, some cool dual-monitor workstations, and the one chicks fingernails.

GW2 didnt live up to my expectations, but at least they were ambitious.

tbh I prefer that over the insanely hyped trailers and gameplay footage every themepark/wow game have for their releases. The UI was terrible, hopefully they fixed that so the newer crowd can get into the game for more than 5 minutes without their yellow ! and ? signs telling them where to go.

Population was an issue but eventually we just ran out of things to do. There were no new cities to take, resources to acquire, or unknown guilds/lands to go to. The playerbase became stagnant and when the players are a large part of the content things are gonna go downhill fast. Honestly if they would have had four or five servers and randomly transferred all guilds to a different world every few months it would have kept the politices/alliances interesting for a long time as people had to scramble to secure something of value.

Anyway, as long as they put out a new world with full loot and new characters it will be better than any other game out right now. I will say it doesn't make much sense to announce a 2 month release date without having done any advertising for the game.

I agree Seth. DF is a player driven game, like any other sandbox. It needs a population to survive. People can say that the lack of players killed DF, but you need content to keep players around. Yea, players in a sandbox need to create the content themselves, but darfall's sandbox ran out of sand and eventually there was nothing to do. I love that players drive the content, but we need something to work with to keep us at it.

They tried to fix it with village control points/sea towers, but it was too little too late. I think if naval warfare is fleshed out, and they add control points all over the map that are worth attacking/defending daily, and don't fuck up the combat, they will be able to keep players into it for a long ass time. Once they have a steady stream of income, they could hire competent project managers and programmers to really make use of the potential that this game has.

Also, fucking advertise. It's hard to get people to pay for/play a game that they have never heard of, know no one that plays, and has a broken ass website that they can't get any real info off of. FFS

Oh, hell, I'll be playing. BUT, I have a few specific feelings on this issue I'll post on the private forums :p. It's worth it to get everyone back doing some serious pvp/griefing. I still have some bloodlust to f some people over in that game.

@Little Oh I will be finding time to play again no matter what, just might not be as active as I was before. It all depends on how things go :)

@Khan I guess we will just have to wait and see how everything pans out. We are supposed to be getting more videos / content soon.

I really don't know if I like the crosshair wobble with archery. That shit was hard as fuck to aim before hand.

My biggest hope is if they actually put REAL anti-cheat detection that works in DF2.0, most likely they didn't.

I'll most likely give it a shot. I'm DLing the original to get a feel for it since I'm guessing the basic play mechanics will be the same in the new one. Anyone still play the original?

The mechanics and play will surely have similarities but the UI in the new game is supposed to be much more user friendly. The old (df1) UI is terrible and takes awhile to learn, so don't get too turned off if you find it to be a pain to learn.
